Claiming God's Promises

For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, whom we proclaimed among you, Silvanus and Timothy and I, was not “Yes and No”; but in him it is always “Yes.” For in him every one of God’s promises is a “Yes.” For this reason it is through him that we say the “Amen,” to the glory of God. But it is God who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us, by putting his seal on us and giving us his Spirit in our hearts as a first installment.

- 2 Corinthians 1:19-22

Claiming God’s Promises - Condensed Video Version

In Jesus Christ, “every one of God’s promises is a “Yes.”  Let that sink in for a moment. Consider God’s promises recorded in Scripture. From Genesis through Revelation, Scripture is filled with God’s promises. Each and every promise made by God is “Yes” in Jesus Christ. Through Him, we are the beneficiaries of God’s promises.

Consider a few:

You are my servant, I have chosen you and not cast you off; do not be afraid, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand. Isaiah 41:9-10

Then the Lord said to him, “Who gives speech to mortals? Who makes them mute or deaf, seeing or blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you are to speak.” Exodus 3:11

For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope. Then when you call upon me and come and pray to me, I will hear you. Jeremiah 29:11-12

Ask, and it will be given you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you. Matthew 5:7

And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.
Matthew 28:20

He who did not withhold his own Son, but gave him up for all of us, will he not with him also give us everything else? Romans 8:32

Scripture is filled with God’s promises. You are created in God’s image. God is with you. He has plans for you. He loves you. God calls you by name. You are redeemed. You are His. You are a child of God, a sibling of Jesus Christ, an adopted heir. The power of the Holy Spirit is within you. He will strengthen you. And like a bad television commercial, but wait there’s more … Scripture also tells us that in Jesus Christ, “every one of God’s promises is a ‘Yes.’” In Jesus Christ, through Jesus Christ, God’s promises are yours, mine, ours.

How amazing is that? With this in mind, I urge you to scour God’s holy word searching for His promises, and when you discover His truth meditate on it, and as you align your spirit, soul and body with Jesus Christ, you will know His promises, believe and trust in them, claim them and receive them. I pray that God’s promises will be real in your life.
